Art by the Pool is as decidedly un-WMC as you can get this weekend: Yes, it's taking place at a pool, but said pool is at a community clubhouse in Palm Beach Gardens, not at some posh hotel. And there will be music, but the thumping techno is being usurped by acoustic soft rock from South Florida's own Raymond Brown. Most importantly, there will be art — gobs of the stuff, in fact, ranging from the colorful, surreal paintings of Ilian Velasco, to the abstract mind warpings of Art Basil vet Brandon Opalka, to the industrial graphic design of Jose Lopez. Live art will also find it’s way to the pool in the form of graffiti from Douglas Hoekzema and Peter Agardy, who each recently inked the courts at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships. Best of all, you won't pay a $50 cover and be forced to buy $20 drinks — this event is free, and the non-alcoholic beverages are gratis. Just bring a swimsuit and an open eye to 4120 Union Square Blvd. in Palm Beach Gardens. For more info, call 561-775-8016.
