Bloody Bracketology on ESPN Deportes

Bjorn Rebney is not a fighter. But the new kid on the mixed martial arts block has just delivered a haymaker to the soft, fleshy side of the competition. Rebney’s Bellator Fighting Championships has pinned down a deal with ESPN Deportes that makes it the first MMA organization to air on any member of the ESPN family of networks. BFC’s season premiere will be split in two parts, the first of which happens tonight at Hard Rock Live. The tourney is divided in four weight classes (featherweight to middleweight) that feature eight-man brackets in which the winner moves on to the next round and the loser goes home with a bloody nose.

Match to watch: Bellator’s most notable acquisition, number two-ranked lightweight Eddie Alvarez, taking on Greg Loughran.

The battle for the Bellator crown begins Friday at 8 p.m. at Hard Rock Live, located at 1 Seminole Way in Hollywood. Ticket prices range from $27 to $152. For more information, call 954-327-7625, or visit hardrocklivehollywoodfl.com.
