The King Is Dead

Everybody loves the King of Miami Pop, Jose el Rey — there's something about his affable nature, roguish good looks, and wicked tight rhymes that people just die for. But tonight, Jose himself will be the one doing the dying. Yes, the man who makes his business off of lady killing will be executed, Death Print-style, as part of the weekly music and art party, Flamingo Fridays.

Jose's death is all a part of a special premier screening of select scenes from Death Print, a grindhouse revenge flick from Miami-based filmmaker Aiden Dillard. In the movie, some of Miami most unique personalities — including Jose, Otto Von Schirach, Rubberdoll, and the TM Sisters — get caught up in the murder of an art luminary's daughter. Faster than you can say "squib pack," the entire Design District is turned into a sea of bullets. Dillard first screened scenes from the upcoming film at Sweat Records in January, but the latest scenes will depict the yet-unseen deaths of Jose and Notorious Nastie in most gruesome fashion. In addition to the screening, Junc Ops and Panic Bomber will perform live sets, while Debbie D and Otto Von Schirach will go nuts on the ones and twos and the TM Sisters will provide the visuals.

Get down to PS14, found at 28 N 14th St. in Miami, at 10 p.m. Cover is $5. For more information, visit notoriousnastie.com.
