If you can’t make it north mid-work week, take a lunch break with Whole Foods in Fort Lauderdale. Five bucks gets you a tasty lunch and a hearty helping of education to boot. A representative from Broward County Waste and Recycling will explain the safe way to dispose of that old Atari game system, that pile of hurricane Wilma batteries, and all of the other electronic hoo-haw that accrues over time. Saving the planet might be simpler than you once thought, while still including dessert.

Whole Foods of Fort Lauderdale is located at 2000 N. Federal Highway. The $5 lunch and lecture begin at noon and reservations are required. Call 954-565-5655.
