Pop Tarts: Get ‘em Before They Go Stale

If you, A) like your pop music with a heavy pour of saccharine, and B) would listen to Lily Allen if she were a little less British, or C) enjoy going to shows populated by young girls wearing liberal applications of eye makeup, then you’re in luck. Katy Perry — the latest Christian gospel singer turned pop musician to top Billboard’s charts — is wrapping her Smashbox lip gloss around Revolution’s microphone tonight. She’s riding the wave of her first commercial success, the 2008 platinum-selling album One of the Boys. The record carried three hits for the mischievous musician: the YouTube sneak success “Ur So Gay,” the Paula Abdul conjuring track “Hot And Cold,” and of course, the tequila lesbian chart-topper, “I Kissed A Girl.” Opening act, the ΄80s pop revival band Alpha Beat, is warming up this sold-out show.

Revolution Live is located at 200 W. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. The show kicks off early at 6:30 p.m., and those $17 tickets are no longer available, so be prepared to pay a scalper or pull an intrepid groupie maneuver for entry to this sugar pop palace.
Wed., April 29, 6:30 p.m., 2009
