Many people can't even spell "eleven" let alone drag their asses out of bed by that time on a Saturday morning But some smarty-pants Wheel of Fortune contestant wannabes will already be up at the mic spittin' letters by that time today as part of the Big People Spelling Bee. And why shouldn't they? All participants are handed a $20 Galleria Mall gift card, the runner-up gets $100, and the winner receives $1,000. And speaking of green, this year's event has a green theme, so many of the words used will relate to saving our planet.

Watch for free at The Galleria, 2414 E. Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Adults 21 and older are welcome to participate with a $25 registration fee. Proceeds benefit Reach Out and Read- Broward, a nonprofit organization promoting literacy for kids in primary care. Register at tri-rail.com, or the Galleria's Guest Services. Call 954-564-1036 for more information.
