Dirty Shorts

After titillating audiences at the Arsht Center for a month, Summer Shorts - South Florida's biggest and weirdest theater tradition - comes to the Broward Center in all its ribald and risque wrongness. You've got two programs, Signature Shorts (made up of eight short plays, from playwrights including the deceased Harold Pinter and the hunky Michael McKeever) and Undershorts (including a musical interlude about a girl and her, um, mollusk), each nastier and funnier and warmer than the other. You can view the programs separately or take them together on Saturday, separated by a 95-minute intermission - just enough time to grab a mojito in the lobby, which is totally recommended. But if you can see just one, the smart money says to check out Undershorts, which includes maybe the awesomest short New Times has ever witnessed: "Pass The Salt," by Jeffrey James Ircink, in which a laconic dinner table conversation becomes... well, something else. You've gotta see it.

Summer Shorts runs at the Broward Center this weekend only (201 SW Fifth Ave., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets run $40 to $135, depending on how much dining and mojitoing you want to do between shows. For more info, visit citytheatre.com.
