Local comedian Marvin Dixon (he's from Miami) has been hosting comedy shows like Def Comedy Jam, BET's Comic View, and Showtime at the Apollo for 15 years. You've just never heard of him. That might change with the ironically titled All White Comedy Show coming to the Miramar Culture Center. Dixon will be bringing fellow comedians Big Sean, Damon Williams, and Marcus Combs to help him out with the funny. The biggest problem with Dixon's comedy is the same problem with the title of the show: He's trying too hard to be safely-edgy. In a couple skits posted on his MySpace page, Mr. Dixon pokes fun at handicapped and deaf people, but it's not very edgy. It's not bad, it's just all white...

If you want to hear jokes far better than anything you read in the preceding paragraph, head down to 2400 Civic Center Place in Miramar on Friday night at 9. If you bring $15, you'll get through the front doors and have a chance for an after party in the banquet hall right after the show. Visit browardcenter.org.
