It takes guts to say “Fuck Jesse Jackson,” even if it’s just part of a movie script. But that is just what Cedric the Entertainer did as the Barbershop character Eddie during a scene discussing Rosa Parks’ status as a civil rights icon. When Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton heard about the scene, they spoke out against the film, calling upon MGM to edit it out. Today, the scene remains in its original form.

One of Spike Lee’s Kings of Comedy and ever the swanksta in his suits and hats, Cedric the Entertainer will instead bring his uncontroversial and cheery standup to Zo’s Summer Groove. The five-day event benefits Alonzo Mourning Charities and Wade’s World Foundation and will include golf, music, a youth summit, a free block party, an all-star basketball game, and Friday's comedy show staring Mr. Entertainment himself.

Cedric takes the stage Friday at 8 p.m. at Hard Rock Live, located at 1 Seminole Way in Hollywood. Tickets start at $47. For more information, call 954-327-7501, or visit seminolehardrockhollywood.com.
