The End of Bromance

In the new Sundance award-winning buddy film, Humpday, you are introduced to Ben (Mark Duplass: The Puffy Chair, Baghead) and Andrew (Joshua Leonard: The Blair Witch Project). Sure, they’ve been friends since childhood, but in the last decade, well, they’ve drifted apart. Ben took the more traditional route: marriage, house, and career, with talk of children caulking up the remaining gaps; while Andrew explored the artistically rewarding, though financially and emotionally deficient life of a party-hopping “artist.” All is going just swimmingly until Andrew finds himself out of monetary options, and shows up on Ben’s porch, looking for a place to crash.

In an effort to prove that his life is less rigid than it appears, Ben hits up a party hosted by a couple of — eh — free-spirited women with his old pal. And as will happen in the bohemian underground, all talk here turns to porn. See, the Humpday Amateur Erotic Film Festival is approaching, and the boys drunkenly decide to transcend skin flick boundaries and submit their own movie. Not just any movie, either. Together they want to truly push the envelope and make the first straight man-on-man porno. When sobriety settles in, neither fella wants to be the one responsible for calling off the masterful plan, and so launches Humpday, the least conventional bromance to date.
