Paintings of sunsets are often a way to make a quick buck off out-of-state tourists looking to take a piece of Florida back home with them. Of course, there are plenty of artists who simply love Floridas marine life and are mindful of the possibility that what theyre capturing on canvas wont be the same in another couple of generations. Thats why Whole Foods Market Lifestyle Center in Fort Lauderdale, in conjunction with the Museum of Discovery & Science, has organized a juried art contest with sea turtle and ocean conservation as its theme. The final judging will take place at this Wednesdays reception, with more than $1,000 in prizes awarded. So come show your support, and maybe Floridas sea turtles will be around for your grandkids to paint.
