Gambling So Good

People who gamble with their lives (think Evel Knievel, rest his soul) don’t need to hit the black jack table. But those of us who do can up our ante — and not by putting our car on the chopping block. By gambling, we could help a little girl keep her eyesight. Gatsby’s Boca Raton will host Casino Night this Thursday at 7 p.m. in honor of Jessie Robinson, an 11-year-old girl who has a disease called neurofibromatosis which causes tumors to grow around her optic nerves. The entry fee of $30 buys you one premium drink, some good eats, and a casino gold card that’s worth 50 chips. There will be Las Vegas-style casino games, such as black jack, craps, roulette, and slot machines. Chips can be exchanged for raffle tickets, which in turn give you a chance to win prizes. Proceeds from this event will be put towards Robinson's visit to see a specialist in Boston and the potential treatment thereafter. Ordinary gambling will never feel this good because, frankly, when there's more than just dollar bills at stake, a spin of the Roulette is as thrilling as jumping the fountains of Caeser's Palace on your motorcycle.

Live entertainment and drinks start at 7 p.m. and the gambling starts at 8 at 5970 SW 18th St. in Boca Raton. Call 561-393-3900, or visit gatsbysfl.com.
