Nature Without the Annoying Fresh Air

There are a lot of annoying things about experiencing unmolested nature. Old-growth forests are notorious for their lack of air conditioning and the very real possibility of being mauled by a bear. The shrub-steppe grasslands of Utah completely lack shopping malls and, most disappointingly, are located in Utah. Only an hour-long trip on an airboat can get you to virgin wetlands of Florida, where you’ll most likely have to wrestle alligators and two-mile long clouds of mosquitoes. This is where the beauty of art comes into play: Now, you can experience the very best of nature without having to leave the joys of city living. "Clyde Butcher: Wilderness Visions" at the Boca Raton Museum of Art (501 Plaza Real, Boca Raton) is bringing these visions of nature in their purest forms to the agoraphobic masses from September 9 through November 8. Tickets cost $8 or less. Call 561-392-2500, or visit bocamuseum.org.
Wednesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, noon; Sun., Oct. 4, noon. Starts: Sept. 9. Continues through Nov. 8, 2009
