Admit it — until now, you’ve bought all the silly urban legends surrounding these polytheistic partiers. Virgin sacrifice? Sure. A diet of raw meat seasoned in tears of the damned? Yup. Heck, you even figured that pagan parties ended wildly late — like “9 p.m. to ???” kinda late.

You couldn’t have been more wrong.

The MoonPath Chapter of Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (or CUUPS if you rather), understands the general misconceptions surrounding their religion. That’s why, at every solstice and equinox, the public is invited to celebrate the change of seasons with these worshippers and their families, and learn a little more about their neighbors, to boot. Take today’s Eleventh Annual Pagan Pride Day and Fall Equinox party. The event raises donations in the form of clothing and non-perishables, all of which go directly into the Cooperative Feeding Program of Broward County. There will also be a drum circle, a live performance by Witches’ Mark, and a raffle. Oh, and while Pagan Pride day starts at noon, it also ends at 7 p.m., so your little warlock can still get to bed on time.

The Eleventh Annual Pagan Pride Day takes place at the Unitarian Universalist Church (3970 NW 21st Ave., Fort Lauderdale). This event is free. Call 954-484-6734 for more information.
Sat., Sept. 19, noon, 2009
