Whether you fully embrace the color pink or begrudgingly accept it as the gender specific pigment of femininity, the color signifies a host of firsts into the entrance to girlhood. It’s the shade of your first 99 cent tube of Wet N’ Wild lipstick, the hue of the bottle top to your first Love’s Baby Soft perfume, and the theme behind your first and favorite John Hughes film.

But as you strap on your big girl pants and deal with adulthood, pink takes on a heightened significance. It’s the color of the hospital gown you’ll wear to your first mammogram and the color of the first ribbon you'll wear for a friend whose life is forever changed by cancer. Celebrate pink tonight at a benefit for Broward General’s Comprehensive Breast Center during the Pink Event. The night includes a silent auction and a runway fashion show with breast cancer survivors. Doors open at 7 p.m. with a $20 cover at Gallery 101 at 3042 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-882-1862, or visit thegallery101.net.
