Directors and actors get all the attention in Hollywood. The people who make them look good — like editors, costume designers, and cinematographers? Not so much. Cinema Paradiso (503 SE 6th St., Fort Lauderdale) has decided to do its part to raise awareness of these behind-the-scenes magicians by highlighting the work of cinematographer Mario Tosi. For those of you without film degrees, Tosi was the man setting up the shots for films like Carrie, Hearts of the West, and MacArthur. His 1979 film, The Main Event, starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal, is highlighted tonight at 7 p.m. Although critically panned, this comedy about a woman who helps fund a reluctant boxer after she’s been robbed blind by her accountant, made more than $62 million and helped propel Ms. Streisand into the world of disco.
