Whose Land Is It, Anyway?

Tonight, check out “This Land is My Land,” an exhibit of Latin American artists at Art Expressions Gallery. No, it’s not a Woody Guthrie tribute to redwood forests and Gulf Stream waters. Rather, it’s a way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month and experience works by Colombian Ana Maria Hoyos, Adriano Nicot from Cuba, Venezuelan Isabel Perez, and the Dominican Republic’s own Vicente Fabre, artists who now live in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties. They’ll be on hand to talk about their original paintings, illustrations, mixed media creations, and sculptures pieces. Perez will also be introducing her new body of work "Between Two Lands,” comprising mixed and recycled materials.

The opening reception happens tonight from 7 to 9:30 at Art Expressions Gallery (1438 NE 26 St., Fort Lauderdale). Admission is free. Call 954-537-9000, or visit artexpressions.tk. The exhibit runs through Oct. 29, and regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.
Sat., Oct. 3, 7 p.m., 2009
