The Comic From Hell

Ever heard the saying, “the ____ from hell”? You know, like “the date from hell”, or “the boss from hell”? Well, comedian Richard Lewis, the man who claims to have coined the phrase (and who was recently credited by the Yale Book of Quotations for doing so), will be raising hell on a four-day stint of stand-up, starting Thursday at Improv Paradise Live (5700 Seminole Way in Hollywood).

The Brooklyn-born and Jersey-raised wiseguy, known for his unique blend of neurotic social commentary and self-loathing stream of consciousness, is in town on his "Misery Loves Company Tour" -- and though you may not be miserable, you're bound to enjoy his company. Lewis was named one of Comedy Central's top 50 stand-up comedians of all time, and is perhaps most recently known for appearances on Seinfeld-creator Larry David's HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm, where he plays himself as one of Larry's closest (and arguably craziest) confidants.

He performs tonight at 8 and again at 10:30, then twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. Tickets start at $21.20. Call 954-981-5653, or visit improvftl.com.
Thu., Oct. 8; Fri., Oct. 9, 8 & 10:30 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 10; Sun., Oct. 11, 2009
