Feeding Faces

If you are one of the unlucky TV viewers that hasn’t succumbed to the greatness of DVR, you may have caught one or two (or 200) commercial spots for Macy’s new “Come Together” campaign. Yeah, you know the one: A bunch of celebrities like Martha Stewart, Usher, and Tommy Hilfiger pretend to all sit together for an impromptu dinner party. For some reason, Jessica Simpson footballs a croissant that no one catches, while a digitally-added Donald Trump sits at the head of the table. The entire promo is a farce; these people would never eat in the same room together, let alone play nice.

The commercial might be weak, but thankfully, the cause is not. Through a partnership with Feeding America, Macy’s aims to feed 10 million people suffering from hunger. One of the stops on this culinary charity tour will take place this Thursday the 15th as famous chef, Todd English, hosts his Italian feast. Guests will be asked to make a donation to benefit South Florida’s Daily Bread Food Bank. Other local restaurants will be sharing their gourmet cooking with generous donors also.

The dinner bell rings at 6:30 p.m. at Macy’s in the Aventura Mall (19535 Biscayne Blvd., Aventura). Donations start at $25.00. Call 305-682-3352 to RSVP or visit social.macys.com/cometogether.
