Artsplosion!

Rest assured, Fort Lauderdaleites, we’re not deprived of artists. But, yeah, we could use some more space to cultivate our arty garden and let it grow. Back in June, promoters Garo Gallo and Yvonne Colon gave us the art/music-filled venue the Bubble. And thanks to two New York-transplant artists, we can now add 18 Rabbit Gallery (18 NW First St., Fort Lauderdale) to the mix of cool cultural attractions. The space opens with its inaugural exhibition, “Fireworks.”

“This first show is a celebration,” says Leah Brown, the gallery director. The grand-opening exhibit features art from a diverse group of contemporary artists, all working in different media. The link? “These artists have all at some point awed me,” says Brown, “into breathlessly experiencing their visions of delicate design and natural force in a way that is not only seen, but felt, like fireworks.”

Check out artwork by Brian Hitselberger, Leah Brown, Peter Symons, and Jinkyung Chong. There will also be artwork on display from Blaine Siegal (who will have a solo exhibition in February), Flint Weisser, Lisa Iglesias, and others. The exhibit is free and runs until November 18.
