Force Fed

Ask any group of self-respecting Star Wars geeks where they think the “galaxy, far, far away” is heading, and the consensus is bound to be grimmer then the conclusion of The Empire Strikes Back. After the initial excitement of the prequel trilogy wore thin, fans have been subjected to George Lucas’ constant franchise whoring with non-stop cartoons, videogames, and action figures. Yet, despite the recent blunders of Jar Jar Binks and Ziro The Hutt (Jabba’s gay uncle), Lucas still has a few tricks up his Jedi robe to keep the space bucks flowing.

This Friday, Lucas brings his latest multi-media experience to South Florida as Star Wars: The Concert is pulled in by the BankAtlantic Center’s tractor beam. Narrated by the android actor Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), the event will include the memorable music of John Williams played live by The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Specially edited footage from all six films, shown, on a three-story high-def LED super screen, will melt your brain. You are guaranteed to cry little Padawan tears of joy, and forget all about that awful Clone Wars movie. Set your vehicle to Hyperspace and warp to One Panther Parkway in Sunrise at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35. Visit Ticketmaster.com, or call 800-745-3000.
Fri., Oct. 30, 7:30 p.m., 2009
