Ghost Watch

Here’s a spooky, tragic story. In 1940, on the way to a fire, firefighter Robert Leeland Knight jumped off the fire truck and landed in a charged puddle of water. A power line was down, and Knight wasn’t wearing protective boots. He died immediately. Legend has it that this fallen firefighter now haunts Fire station #3, now located in the Fort Lauderdale Fire and Safety Museum (1022 W Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). And we’re told he’s not alone. John Marc Carr, the founder of Southeast Florida Ghost Research and owner of the Fort Lauderdale Ghost Tour, will be hosting a charity event, which features ghost tours and a ghost investigation on Friday and today. Ghost tours are $25 and run on the hour at 8, 9, and 10 p.m. The ghost investigation is $75 and is from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. Half of all the proceeds will go to the Fire Museum. Call 954-290-9328, or visit sefgrevents.blogspot.com.
Fri., Oct. 30, 8 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 31, 8 p.m., 2009
