If you think that your hair’s jaunty curl is avant garde, the creations you’ll witness at Glynn Jackson’s Hairtopia will make you reconsider. Because unless you’ve ever had a toy helicopter launch from a crevice in your beehive, your hair is blahzay, basic, and b-b-boring. Jackson has been producing spectacles of hair fashion for the past 17 years, taking his legendary Golden Scissors Awards from the Nation’s capital to Hong Kong, Korea, and the Dominican Republic. And now it’s South Florida’s turn to spin curling irons like batons and celebrate hair at Hairtopia. Starting at 6 p.m. at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium (2901 W. Flagler St., Miami), local hair professionals will go strand to strand, creating masterpieces and vying for over $15,000 in cash and prizes. Tickets are $40 and available at ticketmaster.com.
