Standup Goes the Weasel

Pauly Shore is not dead, buuuh-dy. Well, for film maybe, but for us, he has just been burrowing underground for the past 15 years. After weaseling his way to fame in the ’90s via MTV and a few hit movies (hit-the-bong movies, like Encino Man), Shore seemed to go the way of the caveman himself. But, after acknowledging his detractors, he resurfaced to write, direct, produce, and star in the 2003 film Pauly Shore is Dead. After all, ’tis the decade for second chances. It was only a matter of time before we took off our ’80s fluorescent bracelets and moved on to recycle the ’90s in all its stoner-loving glory. Since Pauly Shore is Dead, the comedian’s popped up in various projects both in front of and behind the camera, including his award-winning sketch-comedy movie Natural Born Komics (2007). Tonight at 7, you’ll get the chance to assure your inner weasel that its greasy hero is still alive by seeing what Pauly does best. No, not freaking out the squares. Rather, standup — which he has been doing since age 17. He performs at the Palm Beach Improv (550 S. Rosemary Ave., Suite 250, West Palm Beach). Note: if you’re a square, you probably will be freaked out. The show begins at 7 p.m. and is 21 and up. Tickets cost $23.50, and there is a two-drink minimum. Call 561-833-1812.
