Enjoy being serenaded by sorority sisters and surrounded by bubblegum-colored accoutrements without getting entirely sick to your stomach at Legally Blonde, The Musical. Becky Gulsvig, the star of the show, claims, “People will think that it’s going to be just fluffy and sparkly and pink, but there’s actually a lot of heart in this story.” Surely you remember the plot: Guy dumps spunky towhead Elle Woods claiming she’s too frivolous; she gets revenge by getting all Harvard Law up in there; and all the while her rhinestone-accessorized chihuahua, Bruiser, tags along for moral support. Get this fill of blonde ambition at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ Au-Rene Theater (201 SW Fifth Ave., Fort Lauderdale) until November 22. Shows take place at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. Sunday shows are only at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $23 to $67. Call 954-462-0222, or visit browardcenter.org or ticketmaster.com.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: Nov. 10. Continues through Nov. 22, 2009
