Starving for your art in a city that’s quickly becoming renowned for its apathy toward all things cool is bringing your passion to a whole new level. Shows are being cancelled left and right, clubs can’t stay open, and good luck getting your independent art noticed. But if you keep at it — and you’re awesome — you’ll be invited to Auteur Explosion. Starting at 9 tonight, Cinema Paradiso is hosting the eleventh Auteur Explosion, a gaggle of South Florida’s finest artists doing what they do best: entertaining the hell out of you. Bands like Shutter, Pocket of Lollipops, and Soma, belly dancing, Egyptian Pop, Bollywood performances, multimixedmedia performances, Underlab Studio’s remake of Tell Tale Heart, a play by Visual Aces, art galleries, and Nick Cat’s 48 hour film festival hit No James Dean… It’s enough to make your head explode.
