More About

Don't expect the usual array of underground indie rock at Propaganda on Friday. Sure, you have Lake Worth's melancholic rock hero, John Ralston, headlining the night. His set will offer fans a sample of the new material he's been polishing. And then there are the syrupy sounds of Fort Lauderdale's Sweet Bronco, who will open things up with what singer/songwriter Christopher Horgan describes as "electro-organic soul pop" music. But what makes this night stand out from any other on J Street are the four woolly comedians doing standup in between the two live acts. The Beards of Comedy, billed as "the funniest bearded faces in standup," are four extremely hirsute comics from Atlanta who dish out a hodgepodge of topical comedy. They mix sketches with improv and music and always welcome audience participation. Yeah, and don't expect the usual Southern get-'er-done type of comedy here. Instead, these guys like to mock Facebook status addicts and sing songs like "My Giant Stimulus Package," tearing a satirical page straight from Flight of the Conchords — only with much more hair.
