Salute These Shorts

One of the greatest things about Thanksgiving has always been the leftovers. They’re the gift that keeps on giving. The same can be said for the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and its surplus of short films. The festival may have ended, but there are 23 films left to enjoy at Sunday’s FLIFF Short Film Festival and Holiday Party. The festival includes Pop Switch (about a man who must decide if he’s looking forward to fatherhood or the nearest exit), Butterscotch (in which a trio fixated on suicide goes on a trip to plan their funerals), and 21 more short-and-to-the-point films just right for the Twitter generation.

The screening starts at 1 p.m. at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). The cost is $5 general admission and free for FLIFF members, and donations will be accepted for Broward County Partnership for the Homeless and Kids in Distress. Visit fliff.com, or call 954-525-FILM.
Sun., Dec. 20, 1 p.m., 2009
