It Ain’t Super but It’s a Bowl

We’re still not used to the idea that the FedEx Orange Bowl is played at Land Shark Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami Gardens). There’s just too many concrete nouns in there — orange, shark, land — that make no sense together. But we are excited about this year’s matchup.

Yeah, yeah, the Hurricanes didn’t win the ACC, and they beat the crap out of eventual victor Georgia Tech when they played back in September. But no doubt about it, Tech’s option offense is fun to watch, and the million dollar question this Tuesday night is going to be whether Big Ten runner-up Iowa can stop it. The Hawkeye’s corn-fed defense finished the season ranked eleventh in the country, but they never faced anyone like Tech QB Josh Nesbitt. (Ohio State’s Terrelle Pryor, while more talented than Nesbitt, is just a hand-off machine in Jim Tressel’s snore-fest offense.) Come see for yourself this Tuesday night. Kickoff’s at 8 p.m., but we imagine most people will show up earlier to get rowdy in the parking lot. Tickets start at $95, plus $30 for parking ($20 if you buy your pass in advance).
