The Era in the Life

Any historically significant time period is usually described as an era. When the tastes change and the fashions change, it’s the end of said era. The Beatles were so culturally significant that they not only dominate an era of music history but they have eras within their own era. There’s 1962 to 1964, which encompassed the supergroup’s poppier rock ’n’ roll, featuring monster hits like “Love Me Do” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” In 1964, Bob Dylan introduced the Beatles to marijuana. Various evolutions occurred. They went psychedelic. Then there was Rubber Soul, then post-Rubber Soul. If simply reading this brief about the Beatles makes you as excited as a 15-year-old girl who just touched Paul’s jacket collar, check out the Fab Four at Parker Playhouse (707 NE Eighth St., Fort Lauderdale) on Sunday. The ultimate Beatles Tribute Band, the Fab Four will produce precise live renditions of Beatles tunes, going through each era with three costume changes. The band will also re-create the Ed Sullivan Show theatrically, during which they’ll play songs off various albums like Sgt. Pepper’s and Abbey Road. Tickets start at $55, and showtime is at 7 p.m. Call 954-462-0222, or visit parkerplayhouse.com.
