Controlling the Pace

When the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers played against each other three weeks ago, the game ended in what can only be effectively described as a thorough “ass-thumpin” as the Heat took down Indiana 114-80. Dwyane Wade played only 28 minutes, yet in that short span, he was able to drop 25 points on the Pacers, going 10-for-17 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the stripe. Michael Beasley scored 16; Udonis Haslem, 13; and Jermaine O’Neal added 19, as they each contributed to the decimation of Larry Bird’s team. Pacers über-rookie Tyler Hansbrough, meanwhile, grabbed ten boards and scored ten points on an 0-for-5 night, becoming the first NBA player to have a double-double without a field goal since Andre Miller did it back in 2005. So, you know, they got that going for them. Hansbrough and the Pacers look for vengeance Tuesday night at American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Tip-off is 7:30. Tickets start at $10.
