I Was Made to Love Her

The tricky thing about love is that everyone is searching for it, even though we can’t solidly quantify how much is available throughout the universe. For example, what if supply/demand laws are horribly askew and there’s only enough uncoupled amore for the very, very lucky? Or what if you’ve just met someone and love doesn’t instantly storm into the room, demanding your undivided attention? Does that mean it isn’t there, or do you gamble with time and wait to see if it will reveal itself in stages? What’s the escape plan if love is one-sided, three-sided, or no-sided? Whatever the case, the journey to locate that emotional superglue has inspired artists since man’s first yelp.

Black Heart Lane: The Musical is a revue-style stage production being performed tonight — and tonight only — at 7 at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). It’s a tale in two parts (and runs shorter than most of your bad dates, clocking in at around an hour). Its seven-song story line focuses on the quest for love, the courtship battlefield, and dating’s oldest blessing/curse: timing.
