Rock the Cradle of Love

He’s Just Not That Into You started out as a single line of dialogue on Sex and the City but soon exploded into a franchise targeted toward single women. Driving the movement were Greg Behrendt and Amiira Ruotola-Behrendt, the husband-and-wife co-authors of books He’s Just Not That Into You and It’s Called a Breakup Because It’s Broken. Tonight, the couple host “So You Think You Want to Be in Love?” at Coral Springs Center for the Arts (8100 Royal Palm Blvd., Coral Springs) — and dudes, this is possibly the best singles-event-not-billed-as-a-singles-event we can tell you to hit up, because the female-to-male ratio doesn’t just won’t get better than this. And men, these women are trying to improve! (Maybe take a note or two.) Sure, we laughed at the joke in School for Scoundrels, “How many of you have self-help books? OK, that’s your first problem. You can’t help yourself, because your self sucks!” Call it “self-help,” call it “self-improvement,” or call it “listening to a sane voice because you haven’t been sane for some time,” books… Who cares, as long as it works? The event takes place for one night only at 7:30. The Behrendts will talk about — what else? — relationships, have a Q&A session, and Greg Behrendt will perform standup comedy. Tickets cost $33.92.
