Well Played, Mr. Bond

There are plenty of reasons James Bond is cool: He drives fast, fights hard, and lives large. Men want to be him; women want to be with him. The coolest moments in Bond films, though, take place in Monte Carlo. Bond puts on a natty tux, strolls into the casino, and sits down at a baccarat table to gather intelligence, win some martini money, and meet bedmates with names like Pussy Galore, Honey Ryder, and Plenty O’Toole.

This Saturday night, the Mosaic Theatre (12200 W. Broward Blvd, Plantation) gives you a chance to step out of your boring, not-a-movie life and into the world of Bond when it hosts Monte Carlo Night from 7 to 10 p.m. Blackjack, roulette, craps, and poker give you plenty of opportunity to win a billfold full of cash and prove you’re the baddest pseudo-Bond (or Bond girl) in South Florida. No, you won’t actually be in Monaco, but you’ll save a bundle in airfare, and the table buy-in won’t cost you a cool half mil. Fifty dollars gets you cocktails (shaken or stirred), hors d’oeuvres, and enough chips to try to take out the local Goldfinger. The suave accent and double-entendres you’ll have to provide yourself.

The dress code specifies “Monte Carlo Chic,” so whether you’re looking to meet Xenia Onatopp or want to dress like her, you finally have an excuse to bust out the duds you impulse-bought for your last trip to Vegas. Call 954-577-8243, or visit mosaictheatre.com.
