Hometown Swampenanny Sure to Be a Hoot

You in a hootin’ mood tonight? For sounds rarely found east of the Skunk Ape’s front porch? If so, grab your dancin’ galoshes and head to Respectable Street, where first up: Black Weather Shaman will channel the spirit — and spittoon — world by providing some psychedelic swamp-billy folkie gems. Helping to kick the mud-stompin’ madness into high gear will be local legend Boise Bob and His Backyard Band. If you’ve not experienced Boise Bob, prepare to be baptized by the high priest of South Florida music. The humble little tune guru has been a-strummin’ and a-singin’ since the days when gators outnumbered developments in the ’Glades. Also performing will be fellow swampies Everymen. You should be able to smell this morass of melody before you step in it, but to point you in the right direction: Respectable Street is located at 518 Clematis St. in West Palm Beach. The event is for those 18 and up, and admission is free. The show starts at 9 p.m. Call 561-832-9999, or visit respectablestreet.com.
Fri., Jan. 22, 9 p.m., 2010
