Yeah, downtown Fort Lauderdale has a cast of interesting characters (have you met Flasher Homeless Guy?), but you can catch some real local talent tonight when local performing arts organization Conundrum Stages presents The Speakout: An Evening of Poetry and Song. Rhymers and songbirds, including Kenyatta Xodus Browne, Anastasia Clark, Manny Ortega, Gus St. Anthony, Rebecca Butterfly Vaughns, Matthew Write Now Medonia, and Giselle Valdes, will spout prose, free verse, and maybe a haiku or two while R&B vocalist and Pompano Beach resident CriStyle Renae performs between poetry selections. Actress, director, poet, and spoken-word artist Rachel Finley, AKA Flow Diva, will hostess. (FYI, shes also a member of the Chaos Theory, a spoken-word ensemble that will be speakin out at the Speakout too.) So clean the wax out of your ears, and then hop over to 18 Rabbit Gallery, 16 NW First St. in Fort Lauderdale for the 7:30 p.m. show. Admission is free.
