Oliver Fist

Oliver McCall’s greatest moment as a fighter may have come 16 years ago, but anyone who can beat Lennox Lewis in his prime — send him sprawling onto the floor and into a daze with a hard one-two combo — deserves a look, even at age 44. McCall, who tops a card of lesser-knowns for the first event in the new “Tuesday Night Fights Live” series at the Hard Rock Live, suffered an infamous crying jag in the 1997 Lewis rematch, a culmination of the emotional burden of legal and drug troubles. But “The Atomic Bull” has won his past five fights, including all three he fought in 2009, and holds the International Boxing Association Heavyweight title.

He’s a legend who likes to run his mouth — probably the best kind of fighter to watch — but if you’re hoping to glimpse an experiment in the works, check out former college football players Quadtrine Hill, James Bryant (University of Miami, both), and Michael Mitchell (Florida State) trying to make the leap from the gridiron to the ring. The slugging begins Tuesday night at 7 at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (5747 Seminole Way, Hollywood). Tickets cost $25, $50, and $100 and are available at the venue’s box office, on ticketmaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.
