Saint Valentine Skipped Us This Year

For a holiday such as Valentine’s Day, don’t let marketing agencies one-up you. By this, we mean, if you stop at buying chocolate-covered strawberries, a scented candle, the handful of flowers, and/or oysters, they win. That’s where their plan ends and yours should just be beginning. And maybe, just maybe, South Florida fell for this crap too, because we searched — and couldn’t find any events for the actual day itself that lit us up. So, today, we offer some last-minute shopping spots from two of our fave local haunts.

The independent record store Radio-Active Records in Gateway Shops Plaza, 1930B E. But still, if you need an event, hit up the Renaissance Festival. The theme for this weekend is "Romance: Days and Knights of Wine and Roses." After all, there is something downright sexy — and dirty — about the Ren Fest — a place full of beer wenches, drunken people with teeth missing, and swords.
