For each phrase that ends in someone gasping, “That would make a great band name,” there’s an equally lazy epiphany that results in bands winding up with names like !!!, The Devil Wears Prada, and Gringo Star. Luckily, Atlanta-based garage-rock rising stars Gringo Star are more than just a derivative name. The four-piece melds gritty rural garage tone with imported British pop and adds a touch of Kinks jumpiness to create a solid classic style. Opening for Gringo Star at Propaganda (6 S. J St., Lake Worth) are three bands that offer up similar sensibilities and mild distortion. The Beauvilles and Mumpsy are both straight-up Brit-pop laced with tinges of David Bowie, and locals Woodmen Hall are reminiscent of The Mars Volta before they got their groove. Tickets are $5.
