Indie art-house theater Cinema Paradiso is, like, South Florida’s very own Epcot. On nights that showcase “Around the World in 80 Nights,” Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale) turns into a full-blown country — sometimes continent! — by showing that place’s cinema, art, and food. It’s already featured Peru, Turkey, and Guatemala, and starting at 5:30 p.m. this Tuesday, the ethnic culture will be France. The evening will begin with petite “French” sandwiches. There will be the cheese, pate, and eggplant; all food will have a French faire to it and be provided by Alliance Francaise of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The consul general of France, Gaël de Maisonneuve, will speak about French culture and traditions. The featured film will be nothing other than Cedric Kaplisch’s Paris. The plot: As a man waits for a heart transplant, he’ll reconnect with his family and decide to change how he will live his final days. A vendor, who works at an open-air market, will question life: He’s recently split from his wife. A professor will search for an Earth-shattering romance. Admission if free, but you’ll have to buy the food and drink à la carte if you want to eat. Call 954-525-3456, or visit fliff.com.
