His Majesty King Dave

Even if you’ve never met the man who built Churchill’s (5501 NE Second Ave., Miami), he’s pretty easy to spot. His name is Dave Daniels, and he’s that dapper 68-year-old gentleman with the great, white grandfatherly beard. On a typical night, Daniels can be found sitting at the far end of the bar, sporting a pink dress shirt and sipping a glass of fine Chardonnay. And for more than 30 years now, he’s held court at his not-quite-a-pub in Little Haiti.

Before emigrating to the U.S. in 1976, Daniels booked big Brit names like Eric Clapton for ballrooms and music festivals in Newcastle, England. This Wednesday at 9 p.m., he and the entire Churchill’s family — including longtimers Raja Khan and Juke — will celebrate Dave Daniels’ 50th anniversary in the music biz. Admission costs $5.
