A Fair to Remember

The days of spring are upon us — and this year, South Floridians could actually take notice. With cold weather lasting until early March, there might be no better year to commemorate the season known for warming up the Earth. You can shed those jackets (this is not a weather promise) when you head to the 31st Annual Hatsume Fair at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens (4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach). From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Morikami will celebrate the first bud of spring with taiko drums, tea ceremonies, and martial arts demonstrations. The towering pine trees may look no different during Florida winter, but they’ll serve as shade after you grab grub from the vendor booths. Three stages will be set up throughout the Morikami grounds, and there will be screenings of animé flicks. You’re even welcome to dress in your favorite DIY cosplay outfit; for costume’s sake, let’s hope no overcoats are needed. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for kids. Call 561-495-0233, or visit morikami.org.
