Changing Faces

For his swan dive into Jungian archetypes, local performance artist David Rohn is channeling more personalities than Sybil. During his solo show “In Characters” at Carol Jazzar Contemporary Art (158 NW 91st St., Miami) at 7 p.m. Saturday, the quick chameleon will unveil a suite of photographs and a series of performances exploring the forces that shape our fabricated personas.

“It was fun weaving these archetypes and contemporary characters together,” Rohn says. “It had a lot to do with issues of personal discovery and stretching the limits of still photography in what are basically self portraits.” Rohn’s alter egos range from a gangster to a Muslim woman, in addition to a realtor, senator, revolutionary, and curator. “I see my senator as a demon and the revolutionary as a hero. But if we were in Washington, those archetypes would likely be switched around,” Rohn laughs. Rohn’s photography will be on display until April 11. The gallery is in the converted garage of a Miami Shores home. Admission is free. Call 305-490-6906 or visit cjazzart.com.
