Its understood that menopause and the songs it inspires wont appeal to everyone. Menopause the Musical, written by Jeanie Linders, will have a niche target audience. Thats right: Theres a truly original musical out there covering the funny side of hot flashes, night sweats, chocolate binges, wrinkles, and mood swings. At 8 p.m. Tuesday, the stage at Parker Playhouse (707 NE Eighth St. in Fort Lauderdale) will transform into a department store, where four women meet at a lingerie sale. At first, what they have in common is simple: a black lace bra. But then through talking and some singing its revealed that theres a whole subject worth bursting into more song about: the change known as menopause. Since the productions opening in 2001, around 11 million women have seen this show. Menopause will not be known as The Silent Passage anymore. Tickets cost $37.50 to $42.50. There are more shows scheduled until Sunday. Call 954-462-0222, or visit parkerplayhouse.com.
