The Jets fans will forever have the lock on Radio City Music Hall — and witness to some of the great draft miscues in modern history. You owe it to yourself to YouTube this, seriously. Chortle as Jets fans in 1995 chant “We want Sapp!” only to see the franchise pick a tight end named Kyle Brady, instead of the (we now know) Hall of Fame-bound defensive tackle. Snicker as the 1983 selection of (perfectly decent) Ken O’Brien at quarterback is followed by an interview of a fan choking on his contempt: “Everybody said if Marino was gonna be around at that time, they’d take Marino. Obviously the Jets know something the people up here don’t.”
You can’t get the atmosphere of a nosebleed balcony seat, alas, but both the Dolphins and a Palm Beach County sports bar are hosting draft watch parties, called Fins on the Clock, where you can wallow in the camaraderie of watching some massive collegian get minted as your newest pro. Look for cheerleaders, Dolphins celebrities, and lots of screaming at the Jets’ pick (whomever that poor bastard turns out to be). Plus, cheer the Dolphins’ No. 12 choice of — whom, exactly? maybe Dan Williams? Sergio Kindle? Dez Bryant, if they’re lucky? — and beyond from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. through either Gate 1A or Gate 7 at Sun Life Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami Gardens) and at Duffy’s in North Palm Beach (11588 U.S. Highway 1).
