Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Repurpose?

With Earth Day behind us again, the green- conscious know they need to get creative to keep the attention of an easily distracted public. The newest exhibit at ArtServe pretty much does exactly that: “Trash-2-Art” features artwork made from repurposed garbage — and, in effect, raises awareness for Trash to Treasure’s cause of keeping the Earth clean.

Trash to Treasure is a nonprofit organization that provided local artists and educators with cheap art supplies: “clean scrap” or reusable items the group collected that would otherwise have been thrown away. By doing this, they provided a service both ecologically and economically green. The exhibit runs from May 2 to 21 at ArtServe (1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). Call 1-888-828-8242, or visit trash2treasurefl.org or artserve.org.
Thu., May 6, 8 p.m.; May 7-21, 2010
