Saturday, Stitch Rock bad-ass Amanda Linton will debut her new art/craft event Art Rock at Armory Art Center. At this cash-and-carry affair, pop-surrealist, street, outsider, and lowbrow artwork will be for sale. It will be an efficient, eclectic indie marketplace full of paintings, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, fabric, photography, prints, and coffee mugs. But at Art Rock, the art-show aesthetic will not be left out: Pooch, among others, will paint live, Rock My World Inc. will customize personal guitar picks, and Ragamufyn will sew live.
Other vendors on tap will be designer toy store Pinkghost; artists such as Danny Brito, Kapone Is Ill, and Lea Vendetta; and Beadkeepers, who sell nature-inspired jewelry. There will be handmade Raggedy Ann dolls by Anniescupboards and edible arty treats from With Sugar on Top and cupcake-and-cookie bakery House of Sweets. The first 100 people will get free swag bags and there are more pluses: Some lucky folks will receive door prizes (various artists donated handmade goodies), and there will be a free kids art activity and water ice by Philadelphia Water Ice for sale. Also, flowing from the speakers, attendees will recognize the sounds of their fave indie, local bands (think Speaking Volumes, Arrivederci, Viva Le Vox, and Alex Nelson). Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Armory Art Center (1700 Parker Ave., West Palm Beach). The list of vendors is extensive and can be found at artrockrocks.com. Cover is five bucks, but parking is free.
