Cage the Elephant Stampedes Through Culture Room

Kentucky-bred Cage the Elephant's single "In One Ear" is loaded with clever, self-deprecating lyrics — exemplifying the band's brazen attitude and sharp wit while calling out the haters. But the words just aren't true. The success of 2008's self-titled debut landed the group slots on top rock fests from SXSW and Coachella, so it's tough to claim it lacks the style, class, or tunes to put it on the map.

Even if those claims had credibility, as the song says, it'd go in one ear and right out the other. The raucous, in-your-face rock vibe pervading tracks like "Back Against the Wall," "Tiny Little Robots," and "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" makes that clear. Expect a night of high-octane, irreverent rock 'n' roll with just the right bit of swamp-stomp grit. Judging by the excited response CTE has received both in the U.S. and abroad, it'll go in both ears and stick there.
