Besides the white-haired, retired folk, another community in South Florida thrives — there is, undeniably, a robust fetish scene. And to top it off with a major plus, the fetishists are organized: The masterminds who hold the reins, the Fetish Factory on Oakland Park Boulevard, host monthly parties (known as Alter Ego) that draw 750 people and, for special events, up to 1,000. But the biggest soiree comes every Memorial Day weekend when the Fetish Factory celebrates its anniversary — this year, it’s the big 15.

On Friday, it’s the Beat & Greet Fetish Party at Sea Monster (2 S. New River Drive West, Fort Lauderdale). Here, out-of-towners will get a glimpse of SoFla’s monthly Alter Ego glam fetish scene. The main event’s on Saturday: The Fetish Factory’s 15-Year Anniversary Fetish Ball at Exit 66 (219 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) will feature a shebang of fetish performers. Think Rebecca, who, during her down time, is a dominatrix and has also run a dungeon. Think Empress Stah, whose act is described as shocking, masochistic, and acrobatic. Think contortionists with model looks, DJs, dancers, and fire eaters. Sunday night is the Extreme Fetish Party at Solid Gold (3339 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale) for the hard-core enthusiasts. All parties start at 10 p.m. and cost $15 to $40.

Since the weekend brings in fetish-lovers from all over the world, the Hilton (1825 Griffin Road, Dania) transforms into fetish central. There will be two social hubs to meet, great, and beat (only playfully and it better be consensual). At the hotel — in public areas — Fetish Factory wants you to use your common sense: no nudity and sex. On Sunday, there will be a private Pervy Pool Party from 1 to 5 p.m. for hotel guests and their fetishy friends.
