Sex Sells
In these hard-pressed economic times, the arts are faced with lagging ticket sales and shrinking audiences, but there is one way guaranteed to get people to come to see your show: fill the stage with a bunch of naked men! Rising Action (get it?) Theatre hopes to bring in some green when it launches a revival of Escorts: The Docu Musical, a show written by local scribe David Lettick. Escorts premiered at Rising Action in 2008 and was big, as it introduced sold-out audiences to the world of men who rent themselves by the hour. Of course, the actors stripped down and showed off their, ahem, lovely assets, but Lettick based his musical on a book he wrote (also titled Escorts), and surprisingly, the show has an actual story line. Performances of this revival run only until Sunday, so hurry over and get an eyeful starting at 8 p.m. Thursday at Rising Action Theatre (840 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale).
